We are in relationship with ourselves and others. Many of us know in our hearts that we long for more fulfilling relationships.
People tend to keep doing the same things that give lead to the same unsatisfying results.
When people discover what it is like to live with compassionate connection, they begin to get a glimpse of what is possible. When they discover how to recognize and accept emotions and needs allow for focusing their energies in ways they choose, they see even more of what’s possible.
My experience is that Nonviolent Communication (NVC, aka Compassionate Connection) is a spiritual path – a spiritual practice – that is disguised as a communication form.
One of the premises of NVC is that “one of the most satisfying things for everyone is to contribute to life.”
One of the most transformative spiritual practices that exists is the experience of deeper empathy. Nonviolent Communication is a way to do that – to become more emotionally alive, empathic, loving, and kind. (See my offering on NVC True Listening, on the Articles page of this site.)
